Mariachi with 3 Violins (Voicing Tips) 3 Cuerdas

First of all I would like to say that these tips come from experience playing violin in groups that have up to 6 violines. These tips will be different for all groups depending on the abilities and reiabilities of the players. When thinking about adding a new violinist to your group it is best to evaluate his/her abilities as every part has its own importance within chord structure and must be heard without dampening the other parts drastically. Violins should listen to one another and recognize each others weaknesses within songs. In addition each violin should back off volume to ensure proper voicing is heard.

Violin I - You should have your most talented and experienced violinitst here. It is best to have someone strong enough to carry the responsibilites.
  • This player should know a ton of songs,
  • Can easily switch parts to complete voicing if needed.
  • Reliable

Violin II
  • Good position for someone new to group and still learning
  • Maintain 2 Violin parts.

Violin III
  • Strong player
  • Maintain at least 2 Violins parts
  • Good Position for Singers.
