A classic returns to circulationSWAT 3 has been a cult classic amongst the tactical FPS community. With its rock solid gameplay model, modification platform and intense co-op/adversarial multiplayer, it received high acclaim and was well loved throughout the new century that was ushered in. Multiplayer continued to be active until the unfortunate shutdown of Sierra's master servers in 2008. Physical copies of the game as well became rare, causing the community to shrink and shrink as time went on.
But now, SWAT operators and those to come can now get it all back. Good Old Games (GOG), the digital distribution division of CD Projekt (the Polish software company behind RPGs like "The Witcher")
re-released SWAT 3: Tactical Game Of The Year Edition on June 30th, 2011. For $9.99, you get the same polished game from 2001, with nothing cut down and
no restrictive DRM or activations. The GOG release is confirmed as compatible with the mods offered here at SWAT 3 Reunited, including Last Resort and can be made ready for multiplayer with the VPN application Hamachi.
With the game now in reach of everyone, I hope that it will provoke not only a reunification, but also that it will bring new operators to the table. Let's go out there and do the job we've been trained to do. Gear up and head out.
